I am stuck right now and wondering if anyone could offer suggestions on the simplest way to present my information to a group of about 10 people for starters. I was first just thinking of a flyer that would give a brief overview of what I am trying to do as I did with the first few people I have discussed my plans with. I just don’t think it is enough; only those same few people are showing an interest; even though I have left flyers in public places such as the Department of Family and Children Services, Rockdale County Library and an at home day care center. I need something more attractive, more catching.
I have found great information on how to set up my agenda on the website www.e-leads.org/stardards from one of the discussion post of one of you guys; thanks.
I posted an explanation of and an invitation to join my cause on FaceBook but no one has responded. Check out my post!
I believe that the cause for which I am advocating is a good one but I am having second thoughts about its success. Is anyone else out there embarrassed to continue speaking on their issues? I am shying away from the fight because it feels that no one else is as interested as I am. Do I continue this fight alone or change my target area? The group type needs to stay the same if I want to make a difference in the literacy development of children.
I found a PDF that will help me in making my AAP more presentable . I think I can follow this . It might be a good Idea in your plans. Whether you are making a flyer or both a power point and a flyer. http://www.elcmdm.org/Legislative/downloads/advocacy%20presentation%20Early%20Childhood%20Ed.pdf I am lucky that a colleague I use to work with she is lending me her projector for the presentation for the night, and she wants to help me in my plan. I just need to find a white poster board or white background sheet.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think that you can do it Cathy I spoken to you several times your ideas are great, and I think you just have to take the plan as you see fit and just go with it. I think that parents need to know what teachers will be out there in the next year and that we plan to help in all efforts of bringing education to their child. We will bring brilliant ideas and levels of ideas that will be powerful in caring and teaching their children.
As for posting on Facebook there is an event which I used to have people join, and they are able to see the plan and comment on my advocacy for children. I am just lucky that I have a business page that has over 500 fans on and this helps me promote this. I am hoping that I can get more to join by using it to get 1000 fans too. This advocacy plan may have more people looking into my profile for fine arts programs. The more people that share it, the more may join.'
Keep up the good work early introduction to literacy is of utmost importance in a child keeping up with his elementary learning and literacy development.

Well, of course I am going to say, don't give up. Part of the process of doing this advocacy is getting feedback from your site director, teachers you are presenting to, etc....YOU WANT THEIR FEEDBACK to help you get unstuck and for them to speak into your plan and how they see room for improvements. Early literacy is a great topic and worthy of the efforts.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen you share the WE GIVE BOOKS site on the blog to get other colleagues to sign up. WHy haven't you explained the program to them? I bet some would be supportive!! ;)

ReplyDeleteHi Cathy,
ReplyDeleteI feel that you are in the right path and you are certain on you cause. I think you should definitely pursue your fight and stay focus. For my presentation I am doing hand outs with basic information as well as resources. Along with my handout I am presenting with a PowerPoint presentation on my laptop at a round table. I think for an audience of 10 my advice for you would be to do a Powerpoint presentation as well, maybe add visual aids too. I think visual aids always capture the audience attention.
Thanks for sharing the website I think it is really helpful to set up a get started in the agenda. What is your facebook address; I will definitely be a supporter. Keep doing a good job!

I think that if you feel strongly in your heart about your cause and you are willing to go the distance don't give up stay on course and you will succeed. Just remember if you make a difference in the life of one child you have done so much!. I think that maybe a brightly colored brochure would be helpful to you. Something that is eye catching. I actually saw that idea on the discussion for this module. I know when I see color I tend to be drawn to it and see what it's all about.
